What do you spend your money on ?
Before this year, I never thought so much about what I spend my money on. I am not the greatest saver, I constantly shop. Being in college has really been a wake up call for me! Money doesn't grow on trees, and now that I have a checkbook to balance and bills to pay, I am paying attention more and more to what I am spending my money on. After looking at my bills this last month, I realized I spend way to much on clothes, shoes, etc. Does anyone else here have this problem!? Guys, maybe for you its other things like sporting events and video games or even detailing your car. I just need to find ways to stop spending my money so easily ! If any of you are great at saving your money, how do you do it? When do you think its okay to spend? I work in a clothing store so it may be harder for me to save than most people, but I am sure some of you do too. I would appreciate advice/ comments so I know that I am not alone :) !

I always spend to much money on food. I pretty much only use my cash on food and gasoline. I use to not pay for my own food when I was at home but now that I pay for it myself it usually totals well above $200 a month. I mean, what can I say a man has got to eat!
ReplyDeletehaha if i were you, i would leaver your wallet in your car. When i go window shopping that's what i do so i don't run my checking account dry. I refrain from going shopping for no reason or without a list (especially grocery shopping)!!! lol
ReplyDeleteBut we do not really have the time to shop, working 40+ hours plus full time class schedule.. so we spend money on bills and groceries.
But good luck with the shopping problem, to bad they don't have a shopping anonymous class like they do for AA's.
haha I have this problem. When I see a pair of shoes or a cute dress I tell myself nooo Im going to save my money. I have to pay this or that bill or I need gas and a lot of the time I get half way to the door turn around and buy it anyway. I have gotten to the point where I don't try on clothes in a store anymore. I take them home, then try it on because most of the time I don't like it when I get home then I can return it and get my money back lol... Sounds dumb but, it fills that void of the "need to shop and buy something" mood but, then later its like you didn't even spend anything. :)
ReplyDeleteIf i was you i would take 20 dollars every two weeks and put it into an account or put it into savings that way you have that extra 20 every other week and when you decide to go shopping or something you will have more money because you saved every other week. If you did that for a year you would have 520 extra dollars to save a year.
ReplyDeleteHave you considered budgeting? Out of your whole paycheck, after bills, decide how much you will allow yourself to spend. It could be 25% of it is spendable the rest goes into saving. And let's say this week you don't spend that 25% then you can add it to the week and have more to spend. Or say I'm only allowed to spend $20 a week on something I want and again if I don't spend it this week, I can use it next week and have $40. Personally I only buy things that I totally need. Nobody really needs to buy clothes or shoes every week.
