This past weekend was Easter and I am interested in what that means to everyone or how it has changed over the years. To me, Easter has always meant getting together with the family, having Easter egg hunts, and having a big dinner. The religious aspect of Easter has never been really recognized by my family. It has been a day to get together and enjoy each other's company and a eat a delicious ham. I know why we celebrate this holiday but I would like to know what it means to everyone else or if it means anything at all. As I have grown up, my family has gotten smaller. For the first time this year, we went out to eat instead of making a huge mess at my moms. I didn't like this because I like sticking with family traditions. However, we still got together, even if it was only five of us. I am jealous of those who have big families.

  1. Easter means the same to me... My family also recognizes the religious meaning of Easter. We spend the morning a church then lunch this year we had bbq and watched all of the kids hunt for eggs and their Easter baskets. My family is also smaller, besides my immediate family everyone else lives a couple hours away. So having some quality time with the family is always important to me.

  2. Easter to me means going to church in the morning to recognize Jesus Christ rising from the dead. After church my family would all meet at someones house and have a big dinner and easter egg hunt for the little kids. I think that everyone on Easter should meet up with family and eat because on that day people should put aside there differences and be thankful for what they have and celebrate Jesus Christ rising from the dead.

  3. To me, Easter means nothing because I am Muslim. In my religion, we believe that Jesus is one of the prophets, but we do not believe that he is God's son. I also don't celebrate Christmas (no presents ): ) either. To me, when we get these days off, i just think about how much family means to me, because i get to go home and see my family. Other than that though, Easter is just a regular day to me.

  4. On Easter my whole family got together. We all met up at my sisters house and her fiance grilled and there was turkey and ham because there are so many people with our families combined. And there are a lot of little kids so we have 2 Easter egg hunts; one for the middle age kids and one for the 3 years old and under. Everyone drinks and eats and laughs. We don't celebrate the religious part of it like we used to. We used to go to church to give thanks, but we kind of grew out of that. I did think of Jesus on this day though.

  5. Easter has always been a family hop around for me.. we went from this house to that house to my house to his house. It was filled with food and laughs. The day was never wasted and we ran from everyone's house to the next and saw so many people in a short amount of time. However, at the beginning of the day we always went to church. Then the carnage of food began!!!!!!

  6. Easter's meaning has changed for me a lot over the years. When my parents were together we attended church every week. The religious aspect of it was more important when I was little. I like traditions too so even though we don't go to church any more I would still enjoy going especially on Easter. Now I celebrate with my mom on one day and my dad on another. Easter has come to a bag (not basket) of candy and a "happy Easter."

  7. Easter has changed over time for me. While we still celebrate it relatively the same way, I have grown to know the true meaning. It used to be all about seeing family and etc. but this year I dreaded it because we had class the next day so it felt rushed. I think we should have had a four day weekend. I know not everyone celebrates Easter but for them it is a free four day weekend! On top of that we only see my dad's side of the family not my mom's. I miss my mom's side and honestly can't really stand my dad's side sometimes. Maybe things will change in the future!
